CAN Softech
CAN Softech is one of the major activities of Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) that brings national and international software developers/products under single umbrella for business promotion, exhibition, and knowledge transfer. This will be an opportunity to share ideas, demonstrate products and services, and information exchange for national and international software developers/products and software users/professionals engaged in various IT related industries. Separate time slots and premises are allocated for demonstration of products.

CAN Softech Objectives
  • Promotion of local software industry
    • Identifying the needs of domestic industries and facilitating them.
    • Categorizing the products/services on the basis of user requirement.
    • Public, NGO/INGOs working for prosperous progress in various sectors of Nepal can enhance their efficiency and operational capacity using appropriate software.
    • Building awareness on usage of software.
    • Creating awareness on risk/threat of usage of pirated software
 
  • Creating ICT employment opportunities
    • Interaction program, conducted by CAN, during this event will impart new ideas and standards for programmers and software developers.
    • With the help of various interaction programs, avenues can be explored by new graduates to identify and meet their goals.
    • International software companies can conduct conferences, programs, and competitions through which they may select best suited graduates.
    • Informing the Government to introduce and include job oriented IT education programs in national IT curriculum.

CAN Softech Activities
One of the major activities of CAN Softech is “Creating awareness on usage of software”. Awareness is one of the most important tools that can immensely boost software market in the country. The activities are further classified below:

  • Organizing national/ international level software exhibition annually.
  • With the help of workshops and seminars importance and utilities of software can be emphasized.
  • Publicizing recent developments of software through media.
  • To strengthen ICT education right from the primary level, the association will help formulating guidelines to implement the policy by the government. This strategy will support quality IT learning methodology.
  • CAN activities will focus on creating awareness to the rural-areas and citizens living under poverty line. IT awareness program such as training, seminar, workshop etc. will be conducted in different regions of the country.
  • CAN will maintain smooth relationship with MOEST, HLCIT, and NITC to formulate strategic plan for the development of software, ICT education, and IT industry of the country.
  • CAN has plans to conduct/participate exchange programs in ICT development within the country and abroad.
  • CAN will suggest Government on formulation of strategic plans for bringing ICT colleges and software companies that can play key role as a facilitator all stakeholders.
