CAN Information Security Survey report was launched on the eve of CAN Softech-2008 inauguration ceremony . Information security committee of Computer Association of Nepal conducted the survey in some areas like financial institution, internet service providers, government offices, security offices, educational institutions and business houses. The survey of its kind is first time in Nepal to channelize the guarantee regarding security of information being shared and processed. The secured information then will be of strategic importance which can then be used for business purpose, social stability and national security.
This survey addresses several major issues that were emerging in every organization. Information technology has become an essential tool of our daily life. With the advent of advance tools in IT, the use of this technology has been growing day by day. Because IT offers various advantages in every walk of life, it has been widely accepted as a communication tool from person to person, manufacture to sales, office to department etc. The CAN Information Security Survey Committee believes that information assets will be more secured if the concerned organizations apply appropriate measures and tools for protecting data and information. This survey report published in a booklet form provides significant measures for improving information security within organization. The main vision of the Information Security Survey is to help respondents assess the state of information security within their organization relative to other security measures available in the world.
