One day seminar on

On 16th November, 2008, CAN Kavre organized a one day seminar on "IT Park operation & our responsibility". The seminar was chaired by Minister of Science & technology, Honorable Mr. Ganesh Shah. Distinguished guests were present at the seminar including Parliament member Mr.Krishna Prasad, Immediate Past President Mr. Biplav Man Singh, Member Secretary of HLCIT, Dr. Madan Pariyar and full time member of HLCIT Mr. Manohar Bhattarai who also presented their papers regarding IT issues. 1st Vice President of CAN, Mr. Amrit Bahadur Thapa, CAN Cavre President, Mr.Sekhar Nath Dulal and invitee from Kathmandu University also presented their papers. During the seminar, IP President of CAN Mr. Biplav Man singh said that Kavre will be recalled as cyber city of the country. The seminar was basically organized to have an interaction on how to organize the IT park of Kavre so that it can have greater impact on the IT field of the country. There was also an intense discussion on the problems that IT park is facing and how it can be resolved in various ways. The build up of IT park in Kavre was started in 2001 AD in which HLCIT contributed the amount of Rs. 24 Crores and Banepa Muncipality contributed the amount of Rs. 2 Crores. The construction of IT park was completed on the year 2004. The park consist of 200 ropani of land and the IT building is established in the area of 1821sq meter. During the seminar, following points were outlined regarding IT park in Kavre. They were: Problems that IT Park is facing- -Inadequate facilities -Traffic congestions -Political Strikes -Poor support service -Dumping site nearby -Prolonged continuity transaction faced -Low political priority -Inadequate Consultations -Uncertainties Existing opportunities in IT park -The IT park has special economic zone status as it has been mentioned at the recent budget speech of the country. -Improved investment environment. Recommendations for betterment of IT park -Regulations & implementation of government laws -Aggressive marketing -Promoting IT park -Implementing the concept of PPP -Involving International ICT investors -Building an international quality of IT park -Implementing the process of single window system among all government offices. The seminar was the first time any Local CAN had organized after the formation of new Executive Committee of CAN.
