Mid region network meeting was held at Dhulikhel, Banepa on 27th June, 2009. It was held in the presence of Central CAN Excom President Mr. Suresh K Karna, 1st VP Mr. Amrit B. Thapa, 2nd VP Mr. Kishor Panth, Treasurer Mr. Hemant Chaurasia and Secretary Mr. Narayan Neupane. Likewise, Local CAN Members and representatives from mid region were present at that moment.
Program started with introduction among participants.
Secondly, 2nd VP Mr. Kishor Panth gave brief description about the local CAN Manual. After an interaction with the participants regarding the manual he requested all local CAN participants and representatives to give their precious views and suggestions after a deep work our regarding the manual. He further distributed email ID to local CAN.
Thirdly, CAN Secretary Mr. Narayan Neupane put on his views about the objectives of regional level network meeting. He further added that the basic objective is to collect data from such events and then to develop CAN Secretariat as a data bank. During the discussion local CAN representatives were requested to provide budgets, the yearly program schedule and others supportive contents that likely needed to organize program at their region from their level. He distributed survey form to participants of Local CAN.
During open forum discussion excom members from central CAN and participants from Local CAN put on their remarks regarding the guidelines, the difficulties to implement and beneficiaries throughout the year.
Sucessively, 3rd Vice President of CAN Mr. Deependra Regmi put on his views and suggestions on Regional Level Network meeting.
Finally, President of CAN Mr. Suresh K. Karna gave his remarks and vote of thanks to all participants, representatives of CAN Secretariat, local supporting members at the network meeting. He kindly expressed his view regarding the network meetings as it would assist to build a firm level of understanding between central CAN and the local CAN representatives that would assist in the development of an entire ICT sector in a nation. Apart from that, he clarified a misconceptualization in existence that it becomes a solo responsibility of central CAN to provide fund to the Local CAN to conduct their programs at their levels. Further he added that, self sustainability is a key factor that an individual local CAN should develop because funding from central CAN for all the programs is not possible nor viable.
